Celebrity's Century Presents Truly 'Cool' New Bar

$55-Million Revitalization Presents Martini Bar Bound to Generate 'Icy' Stares

MIAMI, May 2
Talk about cool. The Martini Bar onboard Celebrity's "new" Century will boast the first "ice bar" concept at sea when the ship emerges on May 30 from its $55-million, five-week revitalization.

Designed by Celebrity's Fleet Design department, Century's Martini Bar will feature a liquid wall that freezes to form a sparkling crystalline appearance, and a bar counter that freezes into ice-cold stone, while a solid block of ice will creatively display bottles of liquor behind the bar.

"To complement the cool design, we're installing kinetic lighting throughout the room, which will regularly change the venue's color and appearance," said Celebrity's Fleet Design Manager Patricia Hayes. "And to enhance the crisp ambience, we've chosen a combination of winter-white walls and polished stainless steel."

Century's trendy new Martini Bar will offer Celebrity's famed menu of more than 30 versions of the popular libation.

Other clubs and lounges will include an updated fleetwide favorite, Cova Cafe, the seagoing version of the stylish coffeehouse in the fashion district of Milan, Italy. There, guests can enjoy fresh pastries and cookies to complement the menu of coffees, teas, and other beverages by day, and at night, the space transforms to a romantic, lamp-lit wine bar, complete with live music.

Pairing refreshing sea air with panoramic ocean views, Century's outdoor Sunset Bar on the top deck, all the way aft, will feature a full service bar designed of teak, stone and stainless steel, topped with an arched-glass canopy. There, guests can enjoy an assortment of fresh tapas and appetizers with cocktails and other beverages.

Teen travelers will have a lounge all their own, with Century's new "X-Treme" teen lounge and video arcade. The dedicated space will include a dance floor, video arcade, juice bar, jukebox, and karaoke, along with computers offering Internet access.

All other clubs and lounges onboard the "new" Century will be entirely refurbished, including the Crystal Lounge, Michael's Club jazz/piano bar, Rendezvous Lounge, and Hemispheres observation lounge and disco.

Century will emerge May 30 from an aggressive five-week drydock period with the luxurious "Murano" specialty restaurant, 314 new verandas, 14 new suites, 10 new staterooms ranging from inside to veranda category, an expanded number of ConciergeClass category staterooms, and a series of features and amenities that typify the line's acclaimed Millennium-class fleet.

Celebrity's "new" Century will set sail on a nine-night "Best of Europe" cruise departing May 30, along with a series of 12-night Baltic and 10- and 11-night Mediterranean sailings, a 13-night "Best of Europe" voyage, and a seven-night Norwegian Fjords cruise.

Century also will be one of the first Celebrity ships to offer short cruises from the cruise capital of the world, the Port of Miami, beginning in November 2006. The ship will present four- and five-night roundtrip Caribbean cruises through April 2007, offering travelers with more limited vacation time the opportunity to experience what the award-winning Celebrity brand has to offer.
