About Don Lynch

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Don Lynch began researching the Titanic disaster while still in high school, after reading Walter Lord's A Night to Remember. He immediately joined the Titanic Historical Society and began researching the lives and stories of those who were on board the ship. He ultimately became an officer in the Titanic Historical Society and is now their official Historian. Don's research led him to write the text for the 1992 book Titanic-An Illustrated History with illustrations by noted maritime artist Ken Marschall. Filmmaker James Cameron has credited the book as one of the inspirations for his movie Titanic, for which he hired Don and Ken as historians. When James Cameron returned to the Titanic in 2001 to film his 3-D large-format documentary, Ghosts of the Abyss he again hired Don and Ken, taking Don down to the wreckage on two different occasions. Don later wrote the text for the book Ghosts of the Abyss, which is about the making of the film. Don currently lives in Los Angeles, and is the Director of Finance for a corporation that does research and development in the field of photonics.
